Martin, Yes it should. You might have problems with wheel flanges here and there and I am not sure if they do well on shorter track such as code 83 and smaller. I have one Marklin Steam that seems to do well that I am planning to convert to DCC.
I do know that a layout that I was asked to help convert to a small museum layout was too tight of radius’s for a regular HO engine and cars to work on. We had to shallow out all the curves for regular HO to work on it. So I say yes it should work well on HO track as the turn radius is usually shallower. But watch the rail height. from Newman
Marklin usually require’s three rail. Pickup is in the center. Depends on what you mean by standard HO track.
