I tried this set up on a HO engine. It was a struggle to get everything connected. I tried super glue but it didn’t hold, I ended up using fast set epoxy and that held up better but use it sparingly. The problem I had was the staying tight.
Thread works well for me, I drill a small hole just in front of the spring holder and pass the thread into the hole with a touch of glue.
I use a different motor, it’s a little longer, more powerful and doesn’t burn out if left stalled for too long. They are 3 volt drone motors.
Hope this helps.
Phill.
