Plastic Safe Lubricants For Model Trains
Ananda writes:
“I have a few older Hornby locomotives and some old Marklin locos and would like to know if there is a plastic safe lubricant that can be used on the motor bearings that will not damage any plastic gears if it gets on them by accident. Thanks for any help.”

Labelle makes 106 and 107 plastic compatible oils
Thanks, Phil.
Nylon gears are not affected by ordinary oils and greases. Basic household oil (3-in-1 etc.) is good for motor bearing and will do most jobs on your locos. But if you want to be safer on plastic gears, you could use a tiny smidgin of silicon grease, which is very inert.
I use inox. It’s versatile for lubricating and for protecting electrical curcuits. Don’t use the aerosol cans.
Thanks to both Franks!
I USE SEW MACHINE OIL ON ALL MY TRAINS NO TROUBLE JUST LIKE MATERIAL
