You will have to go through every locomotive model available in HO to decide which unit or units you wish to buy as the rolling stock size/length is going to decide be your deciding factor remembering wider curvature is best for all circumstances as you may want to use 6 axle locomotives as switchers and Trackmobiles both for sidings and industrial spurs.

  • Morgan Bilbo says:

If you are gung how about 15″, then just buy a small switcher, not 6 axle. Or even a 4 wheel. But you will be limited on what you can run with it. Short trains for sure.

  • Frank B says:

On model manufacturers websites, there should be specifications that state the minimum radius of track each locomotive can be used on.

I had the same problem and bought an Atlas switcher. It has worked fine on tighter curves. There some used ones on E-bay or wait for a sale and buy directly from Atlas. They are quality engines.
