Melvin asks:

“My layout has a 1960s USA theme, but I’m finding it hard to locate diecast autos I like from that vintage at a reasonable price. Suggestions?”

I model the late 50’s and early 60’s. I have used Oxford Diecast and Mini Metals for the majority of vehicles on my layout. Oxford brand is cheaper than the Mini Metals. But good prices can usually be found on eBay.

Matchbox cars are closer to OO scale but too large for HO. I agree with Paul. Go to eBay. Do a search for these two brands and safe the search. You’ll get notified when they become available.

I like using Matchbox cars and trucks on my HO layout. As far as the scale size goes, they look fine to me, and I have modified some of them to be radio control, so that I can actually drive them on my layout. I even made some dump trucks that actually work, it makes things come alive, and the grand kids love it.

Oxford models or Herpa Models have the correct scale model vehicles available in OO and HO
