Mixing DC and DCC Locos

Don’t overdo automatic reverse loops. I prefer to wire reversing loops the old-fashioned way. I do this because I like to run both conventional DC locos with my DCC locos and I don’t want my old locos to unexpectedly reverse direction.

You shouldn’t mix dc and DCC loco’s because the dc ones have 16v AC fed to the motor all the time, when you use DCC. They will very quickly overheat and burn out.
If you must run dc, take them off, or park them all in an isolated section, while you used DCC. DCC locos can be programmed to ignore dc, I forget which cv code it is, and I don’t have the reference to hand, but any DCC forum or site will have it on, if it is not in the handbook for your controller.
