Hi Henry,
A single slip has only one curve track with the crossing and double slip has two curved sections one in either direction hence the name Hope this helps
You probably know that a slip combines a crossover with a point (or switch depending on where you live.) But a single slip only works as a point on one of the crossing tracks, a double slip works as a point on both tracks.
