DC and DCC Sound

Mitch has a DC DCC question for readers:

“I am operating on DC. I am considering purchasing a couple of engines with sound. My question is : Can I use the sound that is incorporated in an engine with DCC on my DC layout? And, what if any, modifications would be required?”

First before you buy see if what you want is compatible. As for running sound on DC layouts I find it to be very awkward Best Regards ~AlanC.

Some DC locomotives (most notably the new Athern Big Boy and Challenger) have sound decoders installed.
