Locomotive Electrical Problem

Andy asks readers:

“My HO locomotive seems to have an electrical issue, it will not run at all while placed on the track. As soon as I lift the back of the locomotive off the track just a little, with the front still on the rails the engine engages and the wheels turn like normal. Is this an electrical problem in the engine? Or something else? My other locomotives run just fine on the same track. Please give me any thoughts or suggestions.”

Sounds like a short, has it ever been dis-assembled for maintenance? A truck or wheelset may be backwards or a wire crossed…

Hello Br’er Shaygetz. a few days ago I saw on the internet the arrangement made on a mantua 2-6-6-2 the case that I had the same problem but once connected the cables to the locomotive and mounted to put it on the way makes a short circuit . I told him that this locomotive was completely disassembled. Could it be because the wheels of the motor car were pushed backwards? I have noticed that the last two wheels one of them has an adhesion spider. In which side does it go correctly in the right or left? Best regards from Barcelona.
