Tiny Integrated Circuit Transceivers

Denis asks readers:

“Hi. I model British N gauge. In recent years there have been a number of tiny Integrated Circuit (IC) Transceiver/MCUs developed. With these small ICs circuit boards could be developed to fit N Gauge or smaller.
Has anyone tried this? Is there plans or software for sale”

I have not tried any of those you were talking about. I did talk to digitrax at the national train show last weekend and he was showing me some of the n scale chips and also small circuit boards for N scale DCC. He was even showing me some of the N Scale that would work in HO if room is a factor.
Just passing on what I saw at the National Train Show. from Newman

This is a fascinating idea.
Small batteries as in my hearing aid kept in the tender of a steamer or diesel fuel tank, a small radio tranceiver and a radio transmitter in the hand – that would cure a lot of dirty rail problems. I know some guys already do this in O and HO, but in N – WOW.

I have been looking at Ring Engineering. They have a radio control system for HO and N that draws track power for the locos.

I was thinking of something like the ESP8266 module. But all I can find is how to set up the Wifi yet it has quite a powerful micro-controller which every-one seems to ignore, surely it can be programmed to do more than just communicate.
