Hi Dave H,

Use a high quality “medical grade’ silicone lubricant. These will work extremely well with metal and Delrin gears with NO damage.

The only product that is safe, effective, not a silicone or harmful chlorinated hydrocarbon; is a precision lubricant that does not attract dust or dirt, is an effective rust inhibitor and is totally nonoffensive to painted, plated surfaces harmless to all plastics, is a dielectric is a product called LPS #1. This product has been used by the aerospace industries as their standard precision lubricant and anti-corrosion compound for decades. It is available on request from most hardware stores or all major Industrial Distributors like MSC, Applied Ind. Tech, Granger and etc.
I use it for all my lube requirements, antique pocket watches and clocks, lionel and ho trains firearms.
