Resetting Cab, Decoders
Bryant models Ho and asks readers:
“Every few days my NCE cab quits working (the display is still lit but the buttons don’t work except the Prog/escape) so I can reset it. When I reset the cab and decoder it is back to normal. Why do I continue to need to do this so often?”

I have a very used NCE Pro Cab system. From time to time I open up the controller and using Isopropyl alcohol, I clean the circuit card that mates with the button pads. Over time you will build up debris in and around the buttons, it’s good to clean it out for better operation. The buttons you use the most, will be the ones that quit working. I have even had to replace the rotary decoder that controls the speed due to wear. If your control is wired (not wireless) be sure that the cable is good. You can check it by wiggling the cable and watching to see if it affects the controller.
