Track Modification Suggestions?

“I am trying to run two lines into a O scale Lionel Train Station Co. I guess out of a switch, I can’t get one of the lines in parallel with the other one. How do I modify track to make the curve coming out of the switch? Can the track be adjusted by loosening the metal ties?”

So getting two lines truly parallel is your problem?
1. Cut a few 19mm x 19mm(3/4″ square) “sticks” longer than the distance apart you want your tracks. Then cut slots each end the width of your rail and the distance from each track apart.
2. for straight track, then plane down a pair of 19 x 30 “sticks” the gauge of your track and about 600mm (2 feet) long
3. Now put your 600mm pieces in each track, and the cross pieces between them. You now have two tracks parallel and at the spacing you require.
Once your straight (tangent) tracks are set, you can lay your curves. Remember to spread the tracks a little on curves to make sure longer rolling stock doesn’t clash with stock on the adjacent track.
I think your best bet is to find a Lionel Train group, or a track plans booklet. You need a curved piece of track that is the right radius and the right length (fraction of a curve) to match the curve of the switch.
As Geoff says, there will be a specific track section made for this purpose which brings the lines parallel.
