Christmas Train Set – Which Track?

Debbie asks:

“My son has HO model train cars from when he was a child and also his father’s train cars from when he was a child. I would like to surprise him this Christmas by setting up a track around the Christmas tree and using some of his train cars. However, the track he has is very old and I would like to purchase new track and a new controller. What brand or type of track would be the easiest for me to assemble? I would appreciate any information! Thank you.”

I would use Bachmann EZ track. It is set on a foundation intended a little bit to look like gravel ballast, but what it really does is reduce the chance of floor or carpet fluff getting into the locomotive and cars.

You didn’t say what scale your trains are, so I am assuming H0/00, Lionel or O scale.

PECO and Atlas both make nickelsteel rail in all three scales. For you purpose I would recommend “set track” rather than flex track
