HO Athearn Genesis

Johnny has an Athearn Genesis and is having problems:

“I have an Athearn Genesis f unit with dc and dcc sound. Everything works great in dc but in dcc I have sound but the loco will not move. I have a digitrax system. I have tried to reset the cv125 to 1 several times to no avail. I even emailed Athearn and they said to reset in dc which I did but all that did was reset the dc only.”

Johnny,On your Digitrax throttle, punch in 03 as a engine number just like you would any other engine. It should run in 03. If it does then you can go ahead and give it its regular address on the programing track. This sound system runs anytime you set it on the track.???I have a AB set of this same engine, the B unit throwed craps and was sent to Athern, came back and in a short while did it again, it now runs with a reg., decoder…..These engines are touchy, a small short will kick the sound on even if you have it set to mute, f12, It does this even with my power shield system installed in several areas of the track. If 03 does not work and you cannot give it a address, the decoder is bad….Mine took 03 then the 4 digit address fairly easy. These have a MRC sound system, I am not a fan of these. Hope this helps
