Dan, this will work on diesel type engines, I use a paper towel, wet it with WD40, on the main line in a chosen area I set the front trucks on the wet towel and turn the throttle up to spin the wheels, move the engine back and forth a little the dirt will show, and then I reverse the proceedure to the rear drive wheels, in between moves I use dry paper towel to dry the clean wheels, using the same proceedure as i did to clean them…After I am done cleaning the wheels I use a dry paper towell to dry off the rails in the area I worked…As log as both drivers are powered this will work, I have used other cleaners, alcohol, goo gone and so on, the 40 works the best for me…For steamers I use a cradle and a pair of power leads to spin the wheels..Hope this helps…….Herb Sr
