Third track is easy. If running standard DC it can be done by connecting a separate transformer. If you are trying to cross over from another power source track then have a section between the two to pull the train on to and with a double pole double throw switch you can switch to the other transformer while in that section even on the run to match the power you are entering. If you are doing DCC then just power everything up and run. It is actually easier to wire DCC than it is DC.
