According to your wiring diagram you have the well known Paco DCC base station which has a hand controller built in. This setup was designed mainly for computer control (JMRI or similar software) connected to the base station via its rs232 port. I noticed the dcc-gen also has an IR port suitable for the Paco XWL remote hand controller. Look at the Paco website where all the info you need can be found. Although the Paco dcc-gen setup works very well it is a very expanded system for large train layouts. The Paco Nano system is more suitable for smaller layouts and make use of tethered hand controllers or even the normal Lenz hand controllers. Paco’s IR or radio controllers can be a pain in the neck for inexperienced users otherwise the Paco system is a well designed setup based entirely on the Lenz open license system and excellent for DIY.
