I had those, but they were given to my cousin when I changed over to HO scale.

Does that bring back memories or what. I am a strong believer that if such commercials where around today, the hobby would grow to what it was back then. Forget computers, Ipads, Xbox, these in no way spurn creativity like having a model railroad does. You do not have to be an Einstein to be able to lay track, do some scenery, and run the trains. Just think about this for a second, the model railroad of today has computers, sound controllers, speed controllers, and a large amount of electronic items that would spur ones imagination and creativity. Computes, Ipads and X boxes do not spur the imagination, they surpress it.

I agree Jim, If only Walthers, Trainworld, Atherns, Bachmann, MTH or some one would come up with a commercial. The hobby would grow 10 fold.

I am old enough but did not see this commercial. We didn’t have a tv until the early 60’s. It seems that today youngsters require instant gratification … Buy an Xbox, plug it in, and let the killing begin. Trains take thought, planning, troubleshooting … lots of great learning experiences.
