Piet is new to the hobby and needs advice (and encouragement) from others with more experience:
“Could some one please help? I am new to the hobby and I am currently building a fairly small layout due to space constraints. I am using peco turn out motors but I am not finding them to be reliable. Why do they only work sometimes? I am using a separate 15v DC transformer. How can I make it to work every time I set the point? It is frustrating when a train derails under a tunnel or a point where it in difficult to get to? Please help!”

Arnie wants help from readers and asks:
“I have followed the directions included with the Atlas dwarf signal included with the device. I am using Atlas switches. I can not get the light to change. It stays either red or green depending on how I connect the 2 leads from the signal to the switch. I can make them work properly eliminating the circuit board and using a relay, but I would like to use the circuit board. I have switched circuit boards with the same result. Any suggestions from anyone?”

Richard wants to hear from you if you are able to help:
“I have a double loop Power-Loc track. It has a large outer loop with an smaller inner loop which I have 2 switches in each side to run loc in either loop. What would I need to purchase to be able to run 2 locos in different directions? One loco would be in the inner loop and the other loco in the outer loop.”

Claude has a wiring question for readers and asks:
“I have about 18 o-22 switches on my carpet layout. I am using a Z transformer with switches on one circut & track on another. My problem is when I turn on the power to the switches the train moves. What is the best way to locate the problem. It was ok before I added the last part of the lay out. I disconected that and others. It didn’t help. I tried several more possible remedies without success. I’m afriad I will have to start from scratch. I think I am missing something but what? Does someone know?”

I presume that Richard has already done a Google search without success, but he wants to locate a supplier of train or electrical accessories for his O-gauge 3-rail system and asks readers:
“Do they make a lighting kit this caboose? Where can I get a breake-down for a lionel engine #2037 4-6-2?”

Gord has submitted this question for publication. However, I am sure it would be helpful if he could add some more details to help people give a good answer. Use the green comments link below to add your comments or answers.
Gord asks:
“Can anyone help with a wiring solution for a grade crossing alternating flasher signal.”
Gerry has a G scale layout and is having power supply problems and asks readers for advice:
“I am a bit of a novice at all of this. My biggest problem is getting my small (12×16) layout to keep current throughout the track. The farther away from the power supply it gets the slower it goes and I can almost forget about turning on the lighting inside the cars (track powered) and the engine sounds. Has anyone got any clues as to how I can solve this problem?

Dave has two questions he is hoping someone can assist him with:
Q1 - Hi, I am looking to purchase some blank Printed Circuit Board so I can put my switches and lights all together. Can someone suggest a retail source online? Also does any one know were there might be some photos to look at to get some ideas?
Q2 - I operate my train set from Hornby Transformers and Hornby speed controllers; my problem is that sometimes they cut out and I have to wait some time for them to start again. Do they have cut-outs inside the speed controllers and how could I avoid this happening in the future?
If you feel you have the knowledge and are prepared to spend a couple of minutes helping Dave - please do. Use the green comments link below. I'm sure he will appreciate your thoughts and will write you a thank you reply on this blog.
Can some help 85 year old Eric please:
“Can anyone assist me in wiring points on my 45mm g scale railway. I am 85 and cannot remember how I did it in the past. This has occurred due to my having to rewire my layout, which is outside and elevated to about 3 foot 6 inches height. The track is 45 mm ( and points ) but the name of point motors escapes me at the moment which is most aggravating. I am using two wire connection with a mobile brass connector and diodes to each wire in opposite direction. I realize this is a bit vague but hope someone can understand it.”

Ron has a question to test reader’s knowledge and asks:
“Can I connect two elcectric switch tracks together without placing a track in between and still have them work properly? I have space restrictions”

Vince is hoping an experienced model railroader will advise him on snap switches and asks:
“My layout has 10 Atlas HO Quality Precision Snap Switches. When I run a locomotive at low speeds it has a tendency to stop on about 3 of the switches (the same ones). I only need to move the locomotive very little for it to start up again. Maybe it will run over and over the same switches time after time with no problem then the next time it will stop every time on the same switches. If I speed up the locomotive (say another 5 mph) I seem to never have any problems. All the other switches seem to work just fine. It seem that if I run the locomotive in reverse I don’t have near the problem. If I turn the locomotive around I still have the same problems. I have put power leads and the end of the switches with no help. Any Ideas?”

Cosmo has a question that has been covered several times before on this blog (see search box). Would a reader like to comment and offer further help:
"My layout is on a 4X8 plywood. At the end away from the transformer, train slows and stops. Why?"

Colin wants advice from others in the hobby and asks:
“Im trying to restore my train set I had as a boy. It used a 501 pulse throttlepack. Are these still available as secondhand packs, as mine has been mislaid over the years.”

Barry wants to power cars on his layout and asks readers for help.
“I want to power a roadbed for autos for my N scale train layout. Does anyone know of commercial kits to do this, or jury rig one?”
If Barry searches the blog he will see previous postings on this topic. Here is a recent posting http://modeltrainsetshelp.blogspot.com/search?q=wunderland
Can someone help Donald with his question please:
“I have Bachmann 6 crossover I want to insulate one side from the other. I cut gaps in the turnout rails, but that didn’t do the job. Power applied to any leg powers all legs. I contacted Bachmann. They told me to disconnect the black wire on the back side of the crossover. The black wire was not connected as comes from the factory. he wire is only used to polarize the frog. Can anyone help me solve this problem?”

Mike has a question but I am not sure what he is asking. Perhaps one of the readers could try and help him:
“I have aquired a train layout with wires that are not connected and multiple switches. It also has a transformer. I was told it could be controled by a computer and it has a telephone connection on it.”

Bill has a question although I am a little confused with the last part???
“How do you wire a double throw/double pole switch so I can isolate sections of my track?
Also, I need parts for old locomotives. Are there sites for parts- Trucks for a 4-10-4 Check made engine, typical question?”
